DIVE INTO THE DEPTHS: THE MANTA RETREAT AT INTERCONTINENTAL MALDIVES

After the successful launch of the Manta Retreat in 2022, we are thrilled to invite you to the third Manta Retreat, scheduled for March 2024.

This unique experience promises more than just a vacation; it's an opportunity for curious minds and adventure seekers to delve into the captivating world of manta rays, guided by experts from the Manta Trust.

The Manta Trust, a global leader in manta ray research, partners with our resort to study the island's large and healthy manta ray population. Recognizing the vulnerable status of reefs and oceanic manta rays, the collaboration with our resort aims to increase knowledge and guide conservation efforts.

During the Manta Retreat, you'll have the opportunity to connect with the Manta Trust team and gain an intimate understanding of the lives of manta rays. With workshops, learning sessions, and the chance to swim with these majestic creatures in the Maamunagau lagoon, you'll leave inspired to impact the ocean's ecosystem positively.

Happening in March, coinciding with the Maamunagau Manta Season, the retreat aligns with the presence of young manta rays in the resort's lagoon. Guests have the rare chance to encounter these gentle giants up close and engage in the research conducted by the Manta Trust team since 2019.

The retreat, scheduled from 9th to 12th March 2024, includes snorkelling and research trips, hands-on educational workshops, and the chance to adopt a manta ray. The goal is to educate our guests about manta rays and raise funds supporting the Manta Trust's conservation efforts.

Participate in the Manta ID workshop, where you'll learn about the identification process and even have the chance to adopt and name a manta ray. It's a unique opportunity to connect with these incredible creatures and contribute to their conservation.

While you immerse yourself in the Manta Retreat, you are also welcome to enjoy the luxury resort's facilities, villas, and residences. Certified divers have dedicated spots to observe the natural manta ray 'spa'—cleaning stations showcasing marine life symbiosis in the Maldives.
